Frequently Asked Questions

I've lost my password
  1. How to recover a website password?
Go to the recovery page, enter your email address or Daigo User ID, and press the Recover Password button. If the email address you've entered is in our database, you will receive an email with a password reset link. When you follow this link you get to a page that allows you to enter a new website password.
  2. Can you recover a syncing password?
A syncing password is a password you have chosen to encrypt your data when it is synced between devices and backed up. We have no control over this password and cannot recover it if you forget it or lose it. We cannot access any data encrypted with such a password. We therefore recommend noting this password on a piece of paper or using a password manager to store it.
Purchasing & Billing
  1. How do I activate my app?
When you first purchase one of our apps, you receive two codes: a Daigo ID and an Access Key. If you have already purchased one of our products, you already have a Daigo ID and can use it to tie your purchase to your account. Your Daigo ID is public and identifies you. The Access Key is tied to the product you just purchased and a corresponding subscription. Now there are two cases to consider: 1. You have purchased our app via an app store. In that case, it is already authorized and you don't need to do anything. 2. You have purchased our app via our website or one of our re-sellers. In that case, the app should also be unlocked automatically when you download and first access it. However, that method might not be available on your platform or might fail. That is not a problem and normal in certain configurations. If your product remains unactivated, go to the Preferences or Settings section of the app and enter your Daigo ID and Access Key in the respective fields. You can copy & paste these keys into the edit fields. For example, to unlock your copy of Daigo Notebook, go to Preferences : Account and paste the Daigo User ID and Access Key you've received in the confirmation email into the respective fields. For online syncing, you also need to add your personal encryption password. Once you've entered the keys and a strong enough password, the Status will change to online after a while and Daigo Notebook starts syncing automatically.
  2. How do I cancel a subscription?
You can cancel any running subscription by logging into the client area: press the Sign In button on our web page and enter your Daigo User ID and the website password that was delivered to you in the purchase confirmation email. Go to the field that describes the subscription and verify it is the right subscription for the right product. Click View Payment Details and this will bring you to a page of our reseller Hotmart where you can manage your subscriptions. Once a subscription is cancelled, it will continue until it runs out of time; it will not renew again automatically.
  3. I have not received my confirmation email yet
It can take some time until your confirmation email arrives, sometimes even several hours. You should first receive confirmation emails by our reseller Hotmart and possibly also by your payment company (e.g. your bank if you used a credit card). You should then receive an email from Daigosoft with your Daigo account data. If you haven't received this email after a while (a few minutes) please check your spam folder for emails from daigosoft.com and classify them as “ham” if necessary. If you don't receive an email from us within a few hours, please contact support and include any purchase information in the request. However, do not include any credit card numbers and other confidential payment details—we only need the confirmation from Hotmart and your email address to confirm your purchase.
Daigo Notebook
  1. Do I need to pay for a subscription?
No. After you've purchased Daigo Notebook, the program will work indefinitely as a local note-taking app and you will receive free bug fixes and minor version updates until the next major version is published. Your first year subscription is free. After that, you only need a Daigo Notebook subscription to sync notes between multiple devices.
  2. Can I use my own syncing solution?
In theory Yes. Notes are really just plaintext files with the note nanoid as directory name, and files are in a File directory in each note directory. However, in practice correct syncing can be quite complicated. What happens if you change the same note on both devices and then sync? In our implementation, note texts and files are merged and there is a complicated version maintenance in sync files. If you roll your own syncing, you need to take into account such conflicts. That being said, for many normal use cases normal “last edit wins” syncing might suffice.
  3. Why don't you include feature X?
We are aware that there are many fancy note-taking apps out there and continuously work on improving Daigo Notebook. Our apps are deliberately minimalist and the long-term goal is to resist “feature creep.” For that reason, please understand that we give each feature request careful consideration and sometimes decide not to implement a feature. However, we welcome suggestions and always have a list of future features and improvements to work on.
